Description

Opening early in 2008, VIP Veterinary Surgery is the first practice set up in Portugal by partners Dr Scott Miller, Dr Lars Rahmquist and Dr Geoffery Platt.

Originally from Australia, the partners met whilst working under the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in London, UK.

With all three partners having travelled to the Algarve and falling in love with it they agreed to go into business together and, drawing on a combined total of 32 years experience in clinical veterinary medicine, formed VIP in 2007.

VIP Veterinary Surgery operate an appointment system six days a week, though urgent cases will always be seen without an appointment. A competent after-hours service is provided, ensuring that your pet receives emergency care whenever it is needed.

MEET THE TEAM

Dr Scott Miller BVSc MRCVS
Born in Brisbane, Australia, to British parents, Scott studied at the University of Queensland Veterinary School. Graduating in 1997, he began his veterinary career working at the largest animal hospital in Australia, the RSPCA clinic in Sydney. After a years experience treating all creatures great and small, he returned briefly to work in Brisbane before venturing to the UK. Working all over the British Isles before settling in East London, Scott ran a sole man small animal practice in Mile End for four and a half years.

Dr Lars Rahmquist BVSc MRCVS
Born in Sweden, Lars moved to Australia with his parents where he attended Melbourne University and then Sydney University in the 1990's, graduating with a first class honours degree in Veterinary Science in 1996.

Dr Geoff Platt Bsc BVSc MRCVS
Born in Maffra, Australia, Geoff's academic career started with the completion of a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Melbourne majoring in Zoology. He went on to complete his Veterinary Science Degree at the University of Queensland, graduating in 1996. Starting his working career in a country practice in his home town of Maffra, Geoff treated a wide variety of patients including domestic pets, farm animals and a multitude of injured wild life such as wombats and kangaroos.
